It’s with my great pleasure that I’m gonna review the first release of newborn Anchor Aweigh records ( Italian HC label run by André -Gold Kids fame ).
REVOLUTION SUMMER is the first self-titled record for this fivepiece, burst out of Bologna scene, formed at the end of 2005 by current and past members of some bands of Italian HC scene ( Last Cares, Summer League, Memories Of Apocalypse, BanxThis, Endless Inertia and Dune ).
What we have here are 6 tracks ( 10.29 minutes long ) of fierce fast modern HC played with plenty of attitude and youthful energy by a band that shows to get all the chops to seriously kick some ass. Revolution Summer is a full-on assault that pounds and hammers its way uncompromisingly from track one to end where the guitar-based sound balances dissonance, fast and loud yet challenging song structures and subtle forms of tension and release much in the tipical way of certain post-HC meet indie-math-rock. The fast paced tunes are led by high-pitched screaming and at times barked shouting of singer Edo. I think it’s worth mentioning ‘Evidence’ ( my favourite track of the whole lot ) with a huge bass pounding in the background and its metallic Converge-like edge. The unsuspecting kids out there have no idea what is about to hit them. If in your face HC is what you’re looking for, pick this up.
